While I’m busy working on some newer material for J360 Productions, I’m always looking into some of the newest games to play for the PowerPlay series and my gaming collection. Say what you will about the current generation of games whether it’s a hit or miss in terms of bringing things together or fulfilling experiences and overpriced tech demos.
Truth is there’s still some great games out there, and lots of games that I’ve been looking into are finally getting released this year. So let’s look into at least 5 of them right now.
(Each trailer is used with permission from from the PlayStation YouTube Channel because I love that PS5! Haha I’m sure a few of them are XBOX/PC too)
5) Star Wars: Galactic Racer
Playing Star Wars Episode I Racer is still a gem to this day and when I found out that there’s another racing game coming in the Star Wars Universe. There were no further questions necessary.
4) Mouse P.I.For Hire
I’ve been looking forward to Mouse PI since it was announced, and I had my steam account ready to buy this on day one. Since I found out that it’s coming to consoles as well and the PS5 could use some new games. The best news got even better and plus I love the 1930s rubberhose cartoon style, and the swing music.
This game has plenty to offer, and I’m here for it.
3) Marvel Tokon Fighting Souls
More Marvel Games! Now while this isn’t Marvel Vs Capcom 4 (Or 5 if you count Infinite). This is perfect because we need something new like Injustice for the Marvel Superheroes. Now lots of new quality of life upgrades have been given to the game since this trailer but since it’s coming out this year, let the battles begin!
2) Onimusha: Way Of The Sword
Finally! After so many days and nights wondering if Capcom even remembers this IP. Onimusha has new life to it! The Demon Slaying Series is coming back in a big way especially after Onimusha 1 and 2’s remasters. This one is shaping up to be a great successor to the brand and I’m psyched to say this can bring in a new era.
While I’m excited, I’m in no hurry I rather the developers take all the time they need. So that we’re all eating good like the Resident Evil fans have been lately.
I still would like Remasters of Onimusha 3 and Dawn of Dreams to come along later.
1) Wolverine
Oh c’mon you knew this game was gonna be here and rightfully so!
I love Marvel and the games that insomniac has been making are pretty amazing. Playing through the three spider-man games have been fantastic experiences, and much like Rocksteady’s Batman Arkham Games, you’ll always wonder whether they’ll expand the universe or not?
I’m glad that they’re shifting gears from Spidey over to Wolverine, and showing exactly what the “Ol Canucklehead” is up to in this universe. It’s been years since we got a classic solo Wolverine game, and while I enjoyed X-Men Origins Wolverine on PS3, it’s time for something new!
I would like an FPS Punisher game, and another sandbox Hulk game like Ultimate Destruction on the PS2,XBOX, and GameCube. Just as a heads up on any developers making marvel games. Haha.
Some honorable mentions are the God Of War Trilogy Remake, MLB The Show 26, South Of Midnight, and Pragmata. I’ve heard there’s another DOA game coming along and while each game mentioned is pretty exciting, these top 5 are the crown jewels for me this year.
